Theatre for Development

Exposing Children and Youths in Egbeda to the Arts of the Theatre

The purpose of this project is to organize a theatre workshop to enlighten students in primary and secondary schools in the Egbeda area about the performing arts and to expose them to other youths actively involved in theatre practice.

The key objectives include:

1) To create a performing arts community initiative to positively engage the youths in this locale.

2) To replicate the success of engaging youths in an artistic enterprise

3) To employ the performing arts as an alternative means to teach them about Nigerian and African culture.

The above was achieved via organizing a practice-based workshop in collaboration with the Footprints of David Arts Academy (FOD) and subsequently the outcome of the workshop was performed at the Footprints of David Arts Festival (FODAF) in December. The workshop performance outcome was also staged in Egbeda.
